The official 3 great festivals of Northern Tohoku are Tanabata, Kanto, and Nebuta, not Sansa, Kanto, and Nebuta... but Tanabata is just decorations with no events or even festival music, so I'm intentionally replacing it.... (Take that, Sendai!)
(Also- I should have specified these are the biggest for Northern Tohoku, not all of north Japan, as Yamagata and Fukushima, which are in southern Tohoku, have some pretty major ones as well. Hope to get down there for some of those next year!)
