At the 2025 Oslo Freedom Forum, the Václav Havel International Prize for Creative Dissent was awarded to three extraordinary artists whose courage and creativity challenge the world’s most repressive regimes.

Presented by Irina Schoulgin-Nyoni, Ambassador for Human Rights, Democracy, and the Rule of Law at Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, this year’s laureates are:

- Azza Abo Rebieh, Syrian Artist & Activist.
- Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, Cuban Artist, Activist, & Political Prisoner.
- Sasha Skochilenko, Russian Artist, Musician, Poet, and Former Political Prisoner.

These three dissidents exemplify the enduring power of art to expose injustice, reclaim dignity, and inspire hope.
