The Dead Sea Scrolls provide extraordinary archaeological evidence of the ancient Jewish presence in the land of Israel—long before the creation of the modern State of Israel in 1948. In this video, we examine the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Great Isaiah Scroll, the ancient Jewish communities surrounding Qumran, and the biblical history connecting the Jewish people to Jerusalem and Israel. These manuscripts take us back approximately 2,000 years into the Jewish world surrounding the time of Jesus Christ and demonstrate why the Jewish connection to the land cannot simply be dismissed as a modern political invention.
We also examine a powerful argument made by Arab Muslim peace advocate Loay Alshareef, who points to the Dead Sea Scrolls and other historical evidence while challenging attempts to erase Jewish history. Christians can care about Palestinians, debate Israeli government policies, and desire peace in the Middle East without denying the historical Jewish connection to Israel. From Abraham, Moses, King David, Jerusalem, and the Hebrew prophets to Jesus Christ and the apostles, the biblical story is inseparably connected to this land. Politics may change, governments may rise and fall, but history remains—and sometimes ancient archaeology speaks louder than modern politics.
