I used to paint with a paper towel in hand so I could immediately fix my mistakes, but now I solve watercolor problems with a different tool! My spray bottle is my favorite watercolor tool and it offers so much versatility to make your painting practice more loose, intuitive and effortless.
Spraying the paper will help you paint wet in wet, it will release hard edges and create soft watercolor effects, and it will push you to loosen up in ways you didn't know were possible.
This video shows several strategies for painting in a loose watercolor style and using your spray bottle more effectively.

Try out different bottles (and save your hair product containers), some will mist the paper for soft effects, but my favourite are the ones that will spray soft droplets when the trigger is squeezed at halfway.
