Today, on a very special episode of THE 1UPBEAT, we remember the legendary game composer Koichi Sugiyama, the grandfather of game music. Following his death at age 90 in 2021, Eric Silver will take you through a comprehensive look at his career starting in the late 50s, through the 80s as a composer for a game music career, and finally to the end of the 2010s.




This four-part special will cover everything from Sugiyama's early songwriting, to his work on anime, and finally the video game scores. You'll hear music from every genre, including every game with original music.
