Dear Kobe,
Thank you. Thank you for the blood, the sweat, and the tears. Thank you for the passion towards the game of basketball. Thank you for respecting the sport that we love. Thank you for giving it your all on your quest to becoming the the best basketball player you could be. You could have taken the easy route. You could have coasted with better teammates. You could have gone to another team when times were tough. But you didn't. You challenged yourself to overcome whatever what was in your way. You didn't shy away from criticism. In fact, you embraced it. You used it as motivation to prove everyone wrong. And along the way, you became a 5 time NBA champion, a league MVP, a 2 times finals MVP, a 15 time All-NBA player, a 12 time all-defensive team selection, an 18 time all-star, a 4 time all star game mvp, and scored over 33 thousand points. But numbers don't even begin to give justice to your career. And, realistically, if numbers can't do you justice, what hope do words stand? You were an icon of our generation, and not just from a basketball perspective. You inspired millions of people around the world in ways that you probably will never be able to fathom. And equally, we will never be able to fully thank you for that.
Kobe, Congratulations on your wonderful career. You will be missed on the hardwood, but we enjoyed every moment along the way.
