This song came to me in a cold plunge
The freezing water made me tap into presence
Where I just repeated “thank you” over and over again
And then like a lightbulb the idea for the song came.
Thank you is my mantra.

Gratitude
The antidote
The world that’s built on fear
The evil world we live in
Wants our soul to disappear
But gratitude’s
salvation
A never ending light
That transcends all the darkness
Trying to hold us to the night
Thoughts say what is missing
Thank you says what’s here
Thoughts keep us unconscious
Thank you makes it clear
Back into the moment
The vast eternal now
Where God is always with us and
Holy like a cow
Like a sunrise
Or a child
Or a garden full of roses
The mind misses the magic
And
Considers all the poses
Why are thoughts against us
principalities are there
Whispering indifference
On foundations of despair

Who set up this funhouse
This journey for our soul
Where most never make it
And lose all their control
How do we get back
Any sovereignty
From the lies of demons
That we pretend to be
Thank you is a pass
To a place outside of hell
Gratitude and presence
Will lift us where we fell
But we have to make a practice
To come back into now
In the garden of our gratitude
And Push that ancient plow
I don’t know the reason
We are in a holy war
Or how we ever come back
To who we were before
Did it start in Eden
With an apple and snake
Since then have we been fallen
With this battle as our fate?

Whatever is the reason
This is where we are
The light and the darkness
All Aiming for our heart
The light wants us present
In the clutch of gratitude
The darkness wants us scattered
With an evil attitude
And we look at the thinking
That justifies the course
We see it’s thought itself
That brings on the divorce
From the Holy Spirit
From revelations bloom
From the love of God
To the darkness of the tomb
Voices of old demons
We identify as us
And then we follow lies
The wrong voices that we trust
Take us to destruction
Take us to despair
When the gift of God himself
Has always just been here
