“I had a freebirth, water birth at home with my amazing partner and sister friends. I don't think any of us knew what we were getting ourselves into, but what I knew was that this had to happen at home. I had only been for one scan and decided I would go through the rest of the pregnancy intuitively, as I didn't want any fear inflicted on me. I had teased my lover the previous day about being in labor, only to wake up to a bloody show the next morning at 10 am. We laughed in disbelief as we had not prepared anything yet for the baby. I called my sisters friends, 3 of them who I had been planning this day with and told them it was time. My lover ran out to buy a water pool as my sister arrived around 11 am. My lover arrived with the pool and they slowly started filling it up with water bucket by bucket. My contractions started getting closer and closer as the water filled up, they filled the water with flowers as we listened to some music.
As I entered the water at around 1:30 pm, I remembered everything I researched. I breathed through every contraction and roared while my lover held me through it all, he rubbed my back while my little one played in the water, handing me flowers when she could sense I was in pain. I won't lie, the contractions didn't feel as bad as my previous births instead, it was just like ocean waves, and every time I came up, I was held to catch my breath by my loved ones. I even felt it went so quick because at 2 pm I felt my very last contraction and things got very messy as I got out the bath and let out some poppies, but once I was done and my lover wiped me down, I jumped back into the water and told my love it was time. He went on his knees with me in the water and had one big push and he caught our baby baby and handed him to me. In complete shock, I put him on my chest and rubbed him. He was welcomed by ululations and cheers from our friends. He came out feet first and completely shocked everyone. I remember looking back and saying to my partner. He is here, we did it. I have never felt so held and seen in all my births.”
