The Autobots split up to intercept the Decepticon recovery of Predacon fossils. Hopefully it will be more straightforward than the last few times they split up (the relics, the keys and the whole end of season thing).

If the Decepticons still have that dismembered Prime-arm, losing the Forge in battle might be a bad idea.
