With seven years of observations covering most of the sky already completed, the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) continues to identify new, exciting, and unique planet candidates. After identification by TESS, ground-based observations, organized by the TFOP leads, are required to confirm the planetary nature of a candidate or discard it as a false positive. Dr. Karen Collins will provide an overview of the TFOP program, demonstrate the tools made available to coordinate and analyze observations by citizen, student, and professional astronomers from around the world, and explain how to apply to join the fun.
Karen Collins is an Astronomer at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian, and she leads the TFOP ground-based transit observing team.
