This is a very old renderer of mine, originally written for my 486 PC. I had ported my graphics framework to Windows/DirectDraw at a reasonably early stage, so this originally ran on Windows 95 with DirectDraw 1.0.
However, on modern Windows systems, the old VGA modes such as 320x200 are no longer supported, so I could not run it anymore.
I still had the original source code... I could have fixed it by just running at a higher resolution, but that would be too far from its roots.
Instead, I decided to port it back to DOS, using Japheth's HX DOS Extender.
Now it can still run on a real 486, and on modern computers, you can run it through dosbox.
