Katy, Texas (KPRC) - A local middle school student and her parents are upset after being given a controversial classroom assignment. The students were asked if God was real.

Chantel Wooley and her daughter Jordan are upset over an assignment given out in Jordan's seventh-grade reading class at West Memorial Junior High School in Katy.

The paper instructed students to label sentences as fact, commonplace assertion or opinion. Sentence No. 2 read: There is a God.
