Stay alives are great devices that provide more reliable operation of your model locos across dirty, uneven, and even electrically dead sections of track. Some larger devices can provide up to 10 seconds of power whereas the new smaller devices may only provide 1/2 second of stay alive power. The real tradeoff though is in the size differential, since these smaller devices can fit in small HO scale locos and even many N-scale. The new Current Keeper III from SoundTraxx is extremely small and we'll give it a test run in this video along with the mid-sized Current Keeper II.
