One of the three waveblasters I bought from Serdaco (serdashop.com) was their interesting E-Wave board. This is an ESS AudioDrive ES692S wavetable chip on a Waveblaster-compatible daughterboard. It has 1MB of sample ROM and 32-voice polyphony, making it a great alternative to an AWE32.

Buy it at Serdaco: serdashop.com/EWave (not sponsored)
