Default Apple II disk access can be slow (though not Commodore 1541 slow). Qkumba's qboot code does a lot of tricks to speed things up, this video shows the code loading 8kB hires images off floppy disk super quickly, especially since 1s of the load is just turning on the drive motor and waiting for it to come up to speed.


The point of this work is to speed up the gameplay of the Apple II Myst demake.
