The PXL2000 was a toy video camera that actually recorded video onto low-cost audio cassettes. Due to the high cost and poor sales, it was only available for a single year in 1987. I got my hands on one and tried it out, finding a lot of design issues that had been compounded by age and decay. While I wasn't able to get the camera fully functional, I did get some basic video out onto an old TV and got some of the features to work!
This might have a follow-up some day if I can get the thing restored further and back into operating condition. It's a neat novelty from the 1980s and has even had a few indie films made with it.
