This was a test of a new plate being offered on eBay that stated it's a multi hit steel armor plate's maufactured by Tactical Armor Products for use as body armor for protection against rifle rounds.
Based on the ultra low cost of this Steel Body Armor (4.5 pounds ea), I thought since I had one on hand for testing, that we would start out with the pistol calibers (38 spec +p, 9mm Nato, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 44 Mag, 50 AE) and then went on to test the armor with the rifle calibers.
The 7.62x54R was fired out of a PSL, 308 was from a bolt action, 5.56mm from an M4, and all of these rifles fired several magazines of ammunition at this plate, and none of the calibers was able to penetrate the armor.
Result:
Both Weaponeer and locknreload both agree that these plates do stand up the the claims of being able to defeat rifle calibers multiple times, in fact I feel the plate could be hit 100 times by an AK from 100 yards are still have no penetration. (but it WOULD deform / dent the plate in the process).
If you rae looking for body army thats affordable and intended to be used for LEGAL purposes, and don't mind the added weight of the steel plates, then I can recommend this plate based on the performance we witnessed during the test.
