The 2.5D Gamer | Test Drive -2002- (Xbox) Gameplay (Upscaled With an Xbox 360) -No Commentary- @DookieCakes | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 16 hours ago
Man, the racing elements of this game are a little frustrating. Maybe they get easier after you unlock a few cars, but the opponents, apparently, weigh as much as an M1 Abrams. You don't get the fun of bumping and rubbing against them, because they just push you out of the way. Whenever you opponents make mistakes, they almost instantly recover, and pass you, and no matter what the stats of the cars are, your opponents will always just zoom ahead of you, no matter what.
I do like this game, but with things like Burnout out there, I don't see a lot of people feeling the need to play this one unless they have a nostalgic attachment to it. I like the oldschool Test Drive series, and this one has the long race modes of it's predecessors, as well as lap races, and even a Hot Pursuit mode which is solid, but not as fun as the Hot Pursuit Mode in Need for Speed games.
Upscaled on the Xbox 360 for this footage, the Original Xbox version of the game looks really good, especially for a 2002 release. I think this is a fun game from what I have played of it, the 7 out of 10 scores it received seem about right. It's fun, but frustrating, and there are better similar games for the Xbox and PS2. It's better than average, but still hard to recommend with Need for Speed, and Burnout being things, unless you really like Pong which the game lets you play while it loads a race.
NOTE: I muted the background music for this gameplay sample.
