Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene along the intersection of Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Three Islands Boulevard just before 10:30 a.m., Monday.
Two victims, both occupants of the Nissan, were transported to nearby hospitals, one as a trauma patient and the other with minor injuries.
Officials said the Nissan was speeding down Hallandale Beach Boulevard when it ran a red light and slammed into the Tesla.
“That car was flying. It hit the Model X Tesla right in the back,” said Ronnie Gnesin, a witness. “The Tesla flew apart. Next thing you know, the back wheels are flying this way. They hit this car over here.”
“I seen this white car just driving like crazy, passing all the cars as fast as he could,” said Jesse Dynak. “Then, I hear, ‘Boom!’ and all the smoke. He must have hit the black car.”
The driver of the Tesla was identified as Jose Diaz, who was seen making the sign of the cross moments after the crash.
