U.S Undersecretary Department of the Treasury, Stuart Levey, testified about a secret program to track terrorist financing and the fact that information about this tracking program was published in The New York Times. He said the Justice Department is investigating the source of the leak that resulted in public disclosure.
He believed that damage was caused by the disclosure, such as terrorist organizations changing financing tactics. In addition, he questioned whether Saudi Arabia and other emerging banking centers have lived up to their commitments to combat terrorism finance. (7-11-2006)
