The Town of Malmedy is formed around the cathedral and the monastic buildings, it has a cultural and tourist center.
Malmedy also had a fateful history during the 'Battle of the Bulge' at the end of the Second World War. It was almost completly destroyed and had to be rebuilt after the war.
All that is history now and Malmedy is a beacon of tranquility and the few inhabitants (only 6500) are very friendly. The city is located in a beautiful green area.
