Terrmasters D1 Plus, single bay M.2 USB4 Enclosure has been superbly designed. I mean its about as simple as it gets. Its just CNC'd aluminium with a wicked fast PCB interface shoved inside. But that simplicity works really well when populated with the right M.2 NVME drive and host computer.
Ive decided to use mine as a DaVinci Resolve scratch disk, because its silent and never gets hot. So it meets my needs.

The TerraMaster D1 SSD PLUS 1-Bay M.2 USB4 enclosure is ideal for video editors and professionals that need a compact and blazing fast storage solution. Equipped with a single NVMe M.2 2280 SSD slot, the D1 SSD supports up to 8TB in a compact and portable form factor.
Depending on your choice of SSD, read and write speeds can reach up to 3853 and 3707 MB/s, respectively, which is fast enough for 8K raw and 4K video in slow motion as well as ProRes and other demanding codecs, plus high-resolution photos in both raw and compressed formats.
The D1 SSD features a 40 Gb/s USB4 port that is compatible with Thunderbolt 5, making it easy it use with Macs, PCs, and even compatible mobile devices. A fan-less passive cooling design and aluminium alloy chassis provides efficient heat dissipation and stable temperatures to preserve performance and lifespan.
