Just another quick upload before I go to bed, and it's yet another stellar Martin Galway Tune. I played the game on NES, and while I'm not particularly fond of it among the zillions of vertical shooters, the loader music for the C64 Terra Cresta is amazing. When the bass drops around 1:07 I get chills. It's this powerful feeling of the chirpy lead and the heavy bass, but it blends so well it's awe inspiring.
Martin Galway shows us here, as well as in the Parallax loader, that he can create a wonderful melodic piece that's got a hypnotic atmospheric drone.
As much as I love the phat beats that Matt Gray puts out, the sheer sound that Martin Galway produced along with his creative talent for composition and arrangement are virtually unparalleled in the C64 world. His strengths are very different from someone like Chris Huelsbeck or Rob Hubbard but he is undeniably one of the greatest C64 composers there ever was.
And man, what a crazy jerky 3/4 this piece is in.
