Ten entered the 1990s with a rather stunning promo for its big news hour - local 30-minute evening news at 6:00 followed by local current affairs show "Sydney with Mike Gibson". Former "60 Minutes" correspondent Ian Leslie - a seasoned journalist but newsreading novice - joined Ten to front its prime-time newscast in Sydney. The "Ten Evening News with Ian Leslie" was modelled on the CBS Evening News in terms of its presentation, graphics and journalistic emphasis.
