God never leads us into temptation.
In fact, Jesus taught us to pray, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” (Matthew 6:13) We are not asking God to bring temptation into our lives. We are asking Him to help us recognize it, resist it, and be delivered from its power.
James 1:13–15 also reminds us that God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone. Temptation often begins with desires within us that, when entertained, can lead into sin.
The temptation may be real, but it does not come from God. And when you find yourself being pulled toward something that can harm your relationship with Him, don’t assume God is leading you there. Pray for the strength to resist, the wisdom to recognize the temptation, and the grace to walk away.
