The session aims to explore how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), open-source hardware (OSH), and distributed digital systems, can accelerate equitable climate action across adaptation, mitigation, and resilience pathways. It seeks to translate technical innovation into actionable policy frameworks that enhance energy access, climate modelling accuracy, and skills development.
By bridging AI-enabled predictive systems with open hardware and digital capacity-building ecosystems, the session will present how technology can democratise climate knowledge, decentralise renewable energy, and reduce systemic inequalities between the Global North and South. The objective is to identify replicable models of technology governance, ethical AI integration, and cooperative financing mechanisms that ensure the twin transitions of decarbonisation and digitalisation are inclusive, efficient, and locally owned.
