In a world not so far from ours, the poor got pushed out into future slums behind the wall while the rich enjoy their safe neo-haven. The wall, a staggering 500 ft tall leviathan structure built in the hopes of keeping crime at bay, is manned by the LAPD in a joint venture with the border security. Grimy, rainy and a city spammed with adverts, it has its calling for those who want to make a fortune and those who have a.........'city to burn.'
Made in Maya for 2 months straight after work, rendered with Redshift over a span of week. Despite 40 million polygons and tons of volumetrics, Redshift suprisingly was rendering at a breezy 3-4 minutes per frame. Heck there's cars flying around across the city but the structures are so massive that they are barely 5 pixels big. Points if you can spot some flying. :P
Rain and raindrops on camera completely done inside Nuke, along with the comping. Final tweaks and sound mix in AE.
This is by no means finished, I rushed it to meet the deadline. I am definitely going back in the city to add so much more detail like garbage, cables, more adverts, traffic and people.
