This talk will be introduced at ground level, then quickly take flight, ascending to the airborne domain, followed by a journey of the imagination into the space of Earth observing satellites. The audience will be introduced to the basic concepts and considerations of space mission design. Along the way, a few key mathematical formulas (at high school level) will be shared, along with the lingo of space professionals. The audience will be encouraged to actively contribute to the mission design activity, so keep your smart phone calculators handy (unless you brought your slide rule)!
