So this is my last video for Te Wiki o Te Reo! And it's been such fun filming these videos.
We thought we would do the pepeha challenge!
I forgot to mention what pepeha means in the video.
A pepeha is what we like to say when we are introducing ourselves in a formal way. This shows the listener where we are from, our genealogy etc. When learning the reo you will find the tutors will do this as a way to really get to know you. As maori we believed we came through to Aotearoa on a waka (canoe) and settled in Aotearoa where we stayed in different area's with different tribes (iwi). It's something us maori are all very proud of and that is why we love hearing different pepeha to see where you have come from. It's really amazing connecting with other maori.
