For seven weeks I was able to accompany the family of owls every evening and came out with seven videos. Unfortunately, this year's Tawny Owl season is coming to an end. The young owls are hardly distinguishable from their parents at first sight. In the intro of the video you can see a young owl eating a bat. Whether he caught her or comes from her parents, I can not say. I'm looking forward to the next year to be close to my darlings again. Thomas

$Wasserralle - Water Rail Gebrochenes Bein verheilte - Broken Leg healed Anfang Juni letzten Jahren konnte ich eine Wasserralle beobachten, die mit einem gebrochenem oder zumindest angebrochenem Bein humpelnd nach Nahrung im Schilf suchte. Beim Erstellen diese Videos fiel mir auf, dass ca. 5 Wochen später an der selben Stelle ich eine Ralle mit einem verheilten Bruch am selben Bein und Stelle munter wieder mit beiden Beiden im Schilf ihrer Wege ging. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass in freier Natur eine Ralle mit gebrochenem Bein große Überlebenschancen hätte. Wie dieses Beispiel zeigt, kann es gelingen mit diesem großen Handicap zu überleben. Engl.: At the beginning of June of last year I saw a water rail hobbling for food in the reeds with a broken or at least partially broken leg. While creating these videos I noticed that about 5 weeks later in the same place I was walking a rail with a healed fracture on the same leg and again with both of them in the reeds. I didnt think that a rail with a broken leg would have a great chance of survival in the wild. As this example shows, it is possible to survive with this great handicap.
