I have now made a new video with sound that looks at what the right-hand is doing, you can find it here: youtube.com/watch?v=dAApVK5WmgY&list=PLe_YtSckL8dDdb3ikEk3ozGs4oLHgOhqn&index=4&t=0s
I have been asked by a subscriber to make another video showing more of the right-hand movements. So this is for you AACMama! This video concentrates more on what the right-hand is doing. I do all the manoeuvring of the thread using my middle and ring fingers. I use mostly the middle finger to hold the thread down and out of the way while I make the first half of the ds and both fingers are used to keep the thread taut whilst I tighten the stitch with my left hand. I don't wrap around the fingers or around the hand as many do and I don't use my pinkie which is also a popular way of doing it. I find using my middle finger makes for smaller overall movements and therefore enables more speed!
I go slow to show the movement and then I go faster!
If there are particular techniques or other aspects of tatting you'd like me to make videos for, please let me know.
