"This song is a total reinvention of Django’s tune 'Dinette', which is itself a reinvention of the popular American classic “Dinah”. During the German occupation of Paris, American music was prohibited, and jazz musicians found a way around that law by giving French names to the American standards they were playing. That’s how Dinah became Dinette! Over the same chords, Django rewrote the melody into a bouncy, obsessive gimmick which I have always loved… but it is totally unsingable. So I decided to slow it down into a Bossa Nova, keeping the idea of the musical gimmick and composing a completely different bridge. The lyrics are about remembering the purity of a childhood love and clinging to that memory through the dark times of life, hoping to be reunited with that lost sweetheart someday." - Tatiana Eva-Marie
