Due to recent controversies, James Charles is losing subscribers and Tati Westbrook is gaining subscribers at historic paces. In just a few days, James Charles lost over 3 million subscribers and Tati gained over 4.5 million subscribers.
The main trigger of this conflict seems to be a product endorsement that James Charles posted on his Instagram story on April 22, 2019. He promoted vitamins from Sugar Bear Hair, which are a rival to Tati's brand.
Tati was a close friend and mentor of Charles, and felt betrayed by this. On May 10, she uploaded a video with the title "BYE SISTER ..." in which she cut off association with James Charles. She also cited other reasons for this decision, such as Charles' offensive behavior.
James Charles soon uploaded an apology video on his channel, but it didn't seem to help the situation.
