“Sports car” is the third single from Tate McRae’s third album, So Close To What, preceded by “It’s ok I’m ok” and “2 hands”. The song was first teased by Tate at the Jingle Ball in December of 2024.

The song follows Tate not wanting to commit to a romantic relationship, using vehicular language to convey her wish to simply live her romantic life on the edge of sexuality.
