TASBot takes on Super Mario 64 Shindou Edition any% no backwards long jump for SGDQ 2020 (held exclusively online). A huge team put together this amazing TAS that does the impossible and even manages to jump off literally nothing!

How does Super Mario 64 Shindou Edition differ from the original version?
• The title screen features a new animated icon highlighting Rumble Pak support.
• It’s actually the international release of the game, albeit translated back into Japanese. As a result, it doesn’t feature the glitches and bugs present in the original Japanese version.
• It includes voice clips from the international release, which previously weren’t in the Japanese version.
• The most notable difference is the inclusion of a title screen Easter egg. Pressing the Z-button fills the background with tiles that replicate Mario’s face multiple times.

On the ‘couch’ at this year’s event we have dwangoAC (on screen), Taters (who organized content for this event), and 1ted59. This video differs from the run on the GamesDoneQuick YouTube channel as it uses the HD locally recorded camera and the locally recorded RGB N64 console output (upscaled by an OSSC - credit goes to Gravatos for his assistance with the RGB modded console).

How long is this run, really? The original timer ended on 7:39 before being corrected by GDQ staff to 7:36 except one person timed the video length as 7:34. However, the actual TAS in an emulator is 7:32.67 in length from first input requested to last input. Stay tuned for future Twitch stream tests to integrate accurate timing recording to allow better tracking of differences between TAS times in the emulator compared to a real console.
