This is the last level I had yet to beat in tasonleste, a very very difficult mod. There's a lot of cheese in this level, but there's still the issue that getting through the spikes requires very fast mashing, and I am very bad at mashing buttons fast or in time. As a result, I resorted to using pause buffering in my completion. I don't consider this a fully legitimate completion, since pausing is banned in speedrunning and infrequently used in modding even when it would be useful, but I also don't consider this fully cheating, since pause buffering is far from infinitely useful in Celeste classic and there's still a lot of technique involved, and I did beat the level without external tools. My personal compromise is to borrow some old speedrunning terminology and call it a "TA completion", which refers to runs that were beaten by a human but with breaks/pauses.
The inputs for the pause buffered section are dash, nothing, r+enter, except on the first section which has an extra frame of nothing and the last section where the enter press isn't really necessary at all (and I just do it because it isn't worth it to break the rhythm at that point). Since there are 4 of these, and there are 2 frame perfect inputs to set up the falling, there are ~10 frame perfects in this level, but that type of analysis kind of falls apart imo and it's really its own challenge. I think this is objectively one of the easier levels in this mod if not the easiest, but I personally found it difficult because I had to learn how pause buffering works from scratch, and it's harder to test things with pauses in the tas tool or something similar. Would recommend this, it was neat. This makes me sort of the second person to beat this level, although penguin did it without pauses
Shoutouts to kikoo for the ffmpeg command to make Youtube not shortify literally everything, if it wasn't for that this video would probably have been over 3 mintues of this on loop lol
