Tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) of NARC Arcade in 9:58 (2,047,550)
Goal: Finish the game as quickly as possible.
Time starts when you land on the ground on the first stage (0:32) and ends when you open the final door in the jackpot room. (10:30)
Notes:
-This game runs at 55 fps, that's why scrolling isn't smooth at 60 fps.
-I lost exactly 271 frames (4.92 seconds at 55 fps) while collecting the 24k gold in the jackpot room. I did it to have a decent score at the end.
-At first glance, it looks weird that the character can walk without being hit by all enemy fire. But believe me, I died very often. What to look for is the shadow of the bullets. You only die if a bullet's shadow collides with your shadow.
-I lost a life with the boss at the end. It was a bit faster that way.
-I lost a bit of energy here and there. I should have worked more on those parts. It is possible to finish the game without losing energy. (Except maybe with the last boss)
-I might do another TAS of this game, but my goal will be to get a high score. But it will take much longer to do.
There is a video with a score of over 6,000,000 and it took 1 hour 18 minutes. It will be difficult and long to do better than that. youtube.com/watch?v=HrmLqPAxIns

![[TAS] Galaga Arcade 160.9% hit-miss ratio (Double ship) (31 stages)
Tool-assisted superplay (TAS) of Galaga arcade (Double ship) 160.9% hit-miss ratio (31 stages)
I did a 200% video: https://youtu.be/mWZYJykjvGw
Goal: To get the highest hit-miss ratio possible in 31 stages
Notes:
-I will have to do another TAS because I think I can do a lot better by applying what I learned.
-About halfway through the TAS, I realized that I didnt have to shoot the extra bugs at the start of the waves, the ones that try to hit you and come out of the screen instead of going into the formation.
-So from wave 17 and beyond I focused on only shooting when I can hit 2 bugs at a time.
-Since the collision hit box is smaller than the sprite, when you have the double ship, there is a space between the 2 ships wide enough for an enemy bullet to pass between the 2 ships. (3:04) (3:45)
-Whats the deal with wave 18? (7:24) No extra bugs, no shooting at the start of the wave ???
-I saw a few videos on YouTube where it happened and others that it didnt. I dont know why this is happening.

![[TAS] Pac-Mania Arcade 2,516,080 points (US 19 rounds)
Tool-assisted superplay (TAS) of Pac-Mania Arcade 2,516,080 points (US 19 rounds)
Settings:
-Type: C
-Rank: B
-Game End: 19 Round
-Goal of the TAS: Get as many points as possible.
-Normally the points for eating ghosts are:
200 400 800 1600 3200 7650 7650 7650 7650.
BUT, If you eat a special red pellet, you get double points until you lose a life
400 1600 7650 7650 7650 7650 7650 7650 7650
-It seems that to have a special red pellet at the 1st level (which appears after eating 50 pellets), you must eat a power pellet before the bonus appears. If you dont do this, you will get a green pellet. I came to this conclusion after testing quite a few times and I always got the red pellet if I eat an energy pellet before it appeared.
But I cant be sure that this is always the case.
-So the strategy for this TAS is:
-obtain a red pellet in the first round
-eat at least 5 ghosts per power pellet
-In the end I got tired of waiting for the ghosts to group together so I could eat at least 5 per power pellets, but I had a total of 385 ghosts for (19x4) 76 power pellets, so thats averaging a little over 5 ghosts for each power pellet, which is fine for me.
-Its definitely possible to eat more ghosts, you just have to be more patient than me ππ
-When you eat the green bonus pellet, you move faster until you eat a power pellet or end the turn.
At 22:14 you can clearly see the small but significant change in speed.
-It is possible to jump over a jumping green ghost because it jumps a little lower than the player.
-But this is not the case with the jumping gray ghost. I couldnt find a way to jump over it.
-I know that it is possible to get more points in the first round by eating a second power pellet before the time expires for the first.
See this video for a demonstration: https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/213298
-I mapped all the levels, you can see them here: https://vgmaps.com/Atlas/Arcade/index.htm#PacMania
-If you set the game to Endless (instead of end after 19 or 7 rounds), after round 19, the game loops in the last 6 levels, (From the 2nd Key)
-I was surprised to see that there arent any rounds where the ghosts dont turn blue. Even with the Endless setting, the game doesnt get any harder than round 19.
-At the end of this TAS I was tired of waiting for the ghosts to group up, which is why by round 19 I didnt get as many as on the other rounds.
For a change of pace, I did another TAS where I do the rounds as quickly as possible. I finished the game in 17:48. You can see it here: https://youtu.be/sm4GPLbgkFA
-It took me about 2 weeks of work to make this video, totaling about 24 hours of work compared to 7 hours for my other video.

Goal: Finish the game as fast as possible without worrying about accuracy.
If you want to see a video with 100% accuracy in 92285, watch https://youtu.be/Qp6lbYHhHWk
Notes:
-It is possible to fire every 4 frames, so you can empty your clip in less than half a second (21 frames).
-It takes at least 12 frames to reload. And you have to wait another 10 frames before you can reshoot. Thus, the TAS must wait 22 frames between clips.
-Here is a list of things I did in this TAS. If you know of other time savers, let me know.
-At 2:29 I shoot at the car
-At 4:26 I didnt shoot the thing on the right of the screen. The animation of all the pillars falling on enemies is fun to watch but if I did that I lost 5 seconds. But in a normal game, I think it probably takes less time than shooting everyone.
-At 10:04 I shot the Yellow Ninja before he jumped somewhere else.
-At 11:56 and 12:05 I shot the two grenades
Thanks Kim Sama / γγ ζ§ for some hints.
But the thing I did that saved me the most time was shooting enemies three times instead of one.
For some reason, when shooting an enemy, if you shoot them 2 times, the death animation is shorter, and if you shoot them 3 times, its even shorter. Since very often the game waits for the end of dying animations before advancing, in the end you save a lot of time because of this.
The time saved with this trick is much more than I had expected.
You would think doing this trick on the last enemy before moving is enough, but in a TAS, when there are 4 enemies to shoot, its often faster to shoot the first two with 3 bullets each, then reload then shoot the other two also with 3 bullets each. In some places I gained 1 second with this.
As this complicated the TAS, it is more than possible that I missed a few tenths of a second here and there.

Notes:
-It is possible to fire every 3 frames, 20 times pas second.
13- You can shoot all the lights (51 points each) even those under the stuff at the bottom of the screen. (6 * 14 = 84 lights * 51 = 4284 points)
28- You can shoot Dr. Dan as fast as you can for 41 points each time
30- You can shoot Dr. Dan for 11 points but you have to stop before he fall in the water.
31- You can shoot Dr. Dan for 101 points each time, the rocks are 120 points each, but you can shoot him only then the Ouch! icon is not there, every 33 frames for a maximum of 37 times (3737 points)
32- You have to shoot specific parts of the car to have the maximum score (7352 points)
-Each hit award 30 points except when a part of the car is damaged
-Mirror driver side (US) 1 shot for 501 points
-Mirror passenger side 1 shot for 701 points
-Headlights (2x) 1 shot for 701 points
-Front window 2 shots for 30+201=231 points
-Side windows (2x) 2 shots for 30+301=331 points
-Hood 10 shots (30*9)+301=571 points
-Door 10 shots (30*9)+401=671 points
-Bumper 10 shots (30*9)+501=771 points
-Tires (2x) 10 shots (30*9)+501=771 points
-So you have 60 specific shots, for the last 10 remaining you can shoot anywhere.
-501+701+701+701+231+331+331+571+671+771+771+771+(10*30=300)=7352 points before bonus
34- I stopped before the end of the timer because the stage score wrap around if greater than 65535 (550 points per word)
-and I suspect that if the stage score is over 32767 the total score is corrupted, see at 14:18 and 16:41
45- You can shoot the crab for 301 points but you can him shoot only when he move, max 11 times
48- You can shoot the weather vane as fast as you can for 21 points each time.

![[TAS] Pleiads Arcade [Tehkan] 10 loops (99,520)
Tool-assisted superplay (TAS) of Pleiads Arcade 10 loops (99,520)
Each loop consists of 4 waves
Wave 1:
-Defend the Earth against attacks from space
-You have to shoot 16 aliens.
Wave 2:
-You are leaving Earth to go into space
-The aliens start small and a hit anywhere destroys them. You get 50 points for this.
-Once they get big, only a hit in the middle will destroy them.
-If you shoot them to one side, a flame appears and you get 20 points
-You can constantly shoot them on one side to get 20 points each time. You can rack up many points like this.
-But be careful, when you hit them, they stop moving sideways and fall directly on you.
-When you shoot one in the middle you get 100-400 points
-100 if there is no fire
-200 with a burning wing
-400 with two burning wings
-If you wait too long, the fire eventually goes out
Wave 3:
-Destroy the alien Mothership.
-For this wave, the game allows you to shoot 2 bullets at once instead of 1 elsewhere in the game (Tehkan version)
-Your goal on this wave is to put out the five exhaust flames under the Mothership. You can only extinguish a flame when a chamber door is open.
-Each time you fire a flame, Motherships bonus increases.
-You get the bonus at the end of the wave
-The wave ends if you shoot all 5 flames on the mothership or shoot 16 aliens, whichever comes first.
-Shooting the mothership does nothing and doesnt give you any points.
-The bonus starts at 100 for the first flame of the first loop and doubles for the other flames.
-So for loop 1 the bonus is: 100,200,400,800,1600
-For each subsequent loop, the bonus starts with 100 more points.
Loop 2 = 200 400 800 1600 3200
Loop 3 = 300 600 1200 2400 4800
Loop 4 = 400 800 1600 3200 6400
Loop 5 = 500 1000 2000 4000 8000
Loop 6 = 600 1200 2400 4800 9600
-But a problem arises for loops 7 and 8 because the number displayed cannot be greater than 9999 points
Loop 7 = 700 1400 2800 5600 11200 but the game displays 1200
Loop 8 = 800 1600 3200 6400 12800 but the game displays 2800
-After that the bonus restarts at 100
Loop 9 = 100 200 400 800 1600
Loop 10 = 200 400 800 1600 3200
But there is a much bigger problem than that!!!!!!!!
-On the Tehkan and Centuri version (I didnt test the other clones), when the 5th digit is displayed, the game gives the 4th instead.
-I think its because the bonus is added to the score 1 frame before the bonus is incremented. You can clearly see this if you watch the video frame by frame.
-At 1:36 I fired the Mothership for the 5th time in loop 1 but the score went from 1670 to 2470 giving me 800 points instead of the 1600 displayed.
-At 11:42 I fired the Mothership for the 5th time in loop 6 but the score went from 43020 to 47820 giving me 4800 points instead of the 9600 displayed.
-And because of this bug, loops 7 and 8 are no problem because the game gives you 5600 and 6400 points respectively.
Wave 4:
-You have just received an SOS that the earth is under attack. You must navigate around the parked fighters and land on the target to return to wave 1 and start the battle again.
-The target is divided into 5 zones: 4 2 1 3 5
Zone 1: The exact center pixel and 1 pixel on each side gives you the maximum points (3 pixels wide)
Zones 2 and 3: one pixel on each side of zone 1 gives you the middle amount of points
Zones 4 and 5: all other positions earn you the least points
-Scoring starts with 500 points for zones 4 and 5, 1000 points for zones 2 and 3 and 1500 points for Zone 1
-Each subsequent loop increases the bonus points by 500 and stops at 4000 like this:
Loop 1 = 500, 1000, 1500
Loop 2 = 1000, 1500, 2000
Loop 3 = 1500, 2000, 2500
Loop 4 = 2000, 2500, 3000
Loop 5 = 2500, 3000, 3500
Loop 6 = 3000, 3500, 4000
Loop 7 = 3500, 4000, 4000
Loop X = 4000, 4000, 4000 probably resetting at loop 256 (to be determined)
-And you get fireworks for every 500 points
To find the high score of this game on Twin Galaxie, you must search Pleiades and not Pleiads.
The highest score on Twin Galaxies of 4,000,000 (13 hours) is achieved on the Centuri version of the game.
I think there should be 2 different entries, one for Tehkan and another for Centuri because of the differences between the two.
In the Centuri version, the player moves twice as fast as the Tehkan version and can have 2 bullets on the screen at once everywhere instead of just on the Mothership wave.
I think the Centuri version of this game is too easy. I wish I had this version in my arcade, my high score would have been much higher :)
I put a side by side comparison of the two versions to show the difference at the end of my video. (21:22)

![[TAS] Sente Mini Golf (73,500) Arcade
Tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) of Sente Mini Golf (73,500) arcade
Heres a quick TAS. Quick to do and quick to watch.π
The player controls the speed and direction of each shot through the movement of the trackball.
When the trackball is moved, the game monitors the speed and direction of the trackball for 20 frames, then shoots the ball accordingly.
A button alternates between three (or two) starting positions for each hole.
For most of the holes, I tried to make the hole as the programmer intended, but there are some that probably arent doable in one shot.
For these holes, I exploit a bug in the game. If the ball hits a corner fast enough it can go out of the playfield. This is a classic problem of collision between a ball and 2 walls. But Im not sure that this bug is exploitable for a human player because you have to hit the ball at a very high speed.
GOAL:
-Try to do each hole in one shot.
-Hole #1 (0:00)
-Hole #2 (0:07)
-Hole #3 (0:15)
-Hole #4 (0:19)
-Hole #5 (0:28)
-Holes done as intended.
-Hole #6 (0:33)
-I was able to shoot close to the hole but it appears that it is (probably) not possible to shoot as hard as necessary to reach the hole.
-So I use the glitch by shooting to the nearest corner.
-Hole #7 (0:39)
-Hole #8 (0:46)
-Holes done as intended
-Hole #9 (0:56)
-Done as intended
-I kept the longest path (fun to see), it is possible to make this hole more quickly.
-Hole #10 (1:04)
-Hole #11 (1:18)
-Hole #12 (1:25)
-Holes done as intended
-Hole #13 (1:29)
-I use the glitch by shooting in the nearest corner. I could have easily done it as intended but it was more fun to watch with the glitch.
-Hole #14 (1:36)
-Hole #15 (1:40)
-Holes done as intended
-Hole #16 (1:45)
-Done as intended, but using the kind of vacuum cleaner.
-Its probably not doable in one shot without this.
-Hole #17 (1:56)
-I use the glitch by shooting in the nearest corner.
-It is probably not doable in one shot.
-Hole #18 (2:00)
-This hole is probably not doable in one shot. The best I could do without using the glitch was in 2 shots.
-And you need to avoid the eyes because they send your ball to the start.
73,500 is probably the maximum possible score for this game since I made all the holes in one shot.
Or am I missing something? Tell me in the comments.

![[TAS] Marble Madness Arcade 222,410 pts
Tool-assisted superplay (TAS) of Marble Madness Arcade 222,410 pts
The goal of this TAS is to achieve the highest possible score.
Difficulty Setting: Very Easy.
Note:
-I set the game at Very Easy to have the 65 sec at the start at level 2 instead of 60.
-At the end, I move around because moving gives you points, so I convert the remaining time into points.
-Thanks to SprintGod for his TAS of Marble Madness on Genesis. Almost all the skips he uses also work on the arcade version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI0Ndea8FXs

![[TAS] Cruisn World Arcade (3/3) Road King in 20:52.36
Tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) of Cruisn World Arcade (3/3) Road King in 20:52.36
GOAL:
-Complete the game as quickly as possible
-Try to beat the times on Twin Galaxies at:
https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/cruisn-world/arcade
https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/Cruisn-world-rev-l23/mame
-The first thing you learn while playing this game is that you never need to brake or release the gas pedal. All curves can be taken at full speed, but you lose speed when sliding.
-I did not see any advantage in choosing the manual transmission
-I did 4 TAS of this game improving my times in each one. I decided to post all four, not just the last one, because I think theres something fun to look at in all of them.
-1 - El Diablo in 21:41.54 https://youtu.be/Ls-OX71fxrY
-2 - Humvee in 21:11.27 https://youtu.be/5_mN4Ry-5e0
-3 - Road King in 20:52.36 This video
-4 - Banzai GTV in 20:10.92 https://youtu.be/3XDq4eCPxu4
-As my main goal is to achieve the best possible time, I didnt mind not finishing first. To finish first, you have to be a little lucky. The first cars must be involved in an accident, otherwise the chances of finishing first are very slim.
Special moves:
See the pinned comment for the list
Comments:
-For this video I chose the Road King because it is supposed to be as fast as the Humvee and I wanted to take a different vehicle.
-I tried to do a Mega Roll at every opportunity, on every jump, to get 2 seconds bonus as many times as possible.
-Australia: With 8 Mega Roll I beat the best time on Twin Galaxies (finally!)
-China: With this truck, I wasnt able to jump as many times as with the Humvee. I thought this vehicle handled like the Humvee but that is clearly not the case.
-Africa: I improved the final time thanks to all the Mega Roll I did but if you check the time before bonus, this truck is slower than the Humvee by more than a second on almost all the tracks. The truck has more problems than the Humvee recovering from a Mega Roll, losing more speed.
-Egypt I finished less than a second slower than the time on Twin Galaxies (1:28.03 versus 1:27.60). I probably would have beaten it with the Humvee. At least this time I finished first (not thanks to my good driving (11:02)).
-Moscow thanks to a Mega Roll I beat the time on Twin Galaxies, but once again I was slower than the Humvee by more than 1 second.
-Germany, Italy, France, England: Not enough jumps on these tracks to make a difference. Still being about 2 seconds slower than the times posted on Twin Galaxies, and being a bit slower than my times with the Humvee.
-Mexico: The green surface has less friction than the gravel road. I tried to use the green surface more strategically than with the Humvee and achieved a significantly better time, about 3 seconds off before the bonus. But I wasnt able to jump as often as with the Humvee, I lost time because of that.
Notable Moments:
-0:10 I used the view buttons to select another car and change its color. Hold view 1 or 2 for a selection of 8 more cars. Press View 3 to change color.
-1:20 A shark is eating a diver
-1:50 Turn the corner on two wheels (5 wheels?) (double-tap the accelerator when turning a corner)
-14:13 Abuse the out-of-bounds collision to lose less speed after the Mega Roll
-14:36 Temporary loss of control when going downhill
-22:45 151 mph for a few seconds proving that the green surface has less friction than the road
Shortcuts:
-Hawaii 0:51
-Australia 4:50
-China 6:26 and 6:54
-Mexico 22:53 and 23:19
-New York 25:19 and 25:26
-In the end, it is certain that the βRoad Kingβ was not the best choice. With this vehicle you lose control if the road goes downhill, you cant jump as easily as with the Humvee and it is often more difficult to recover from a Mega Roll as you lose more speed. It seems the Road King is about 2 mph slower than the Humvee on a long straight road. (143 vs. 145 mph)
-What is the best car to take? I am not sure.
-The fact that a few times posted on Twin Galaxies are 2 seconds faster means Im probably missing something. On the N64 version it is possible to take turns without losing speed. Maybe thats whats missing, but I havent found how to do that, if its possible on the arcade version.
-In conclusion, it is certainly possible to make a better TAS.
-Everything I did in these TAS is achievable by a human with a little luck (or not just a little?). I didnt use any special tricks or cheats, just precision driving.
