Explore Tarot of Her, a beautiful indie tarot deck inspired by Mother Nature, the Divine Feminine, watercolor art, and the cycles of the moon. 🌙🌿 In this review, we're looking at both the Tarot of Her Second Edition and the Tarot of Her Expansion Pack, written by Melissa LaFara with artwork by Sarah Jane Lambert.
Originally brought to life through Kickstarter, Tarot of Her is a 79-card round tarot deck that reimagines the traditional tarot system through the natural world. The familiar suits become Blooms (Wands), Stems (Cups), Leaves (Swords), and Roots (Pentacles), while the traditional court cards become the Fledgling, Warrior, Monarch, and Sage. Each card also includes a keyword and color-coded metallic foil accents to help identify the suits.
One of the features I'm most excited to explore is the deck's unique lunar-phase reading system. The round cards are intentionally designed to work with the eight phases of the moon, adding another layer of meaning to a tarot reading.
We'll also look at the 22-card Tarot of Her Expansion Pack, which reimagines the Major Arcana as an unfolding Her-oine's Journey. I'll share my thoughts on the different ways the expansion can be used—and whether I see myself actually incorporating it into my readings.
If you love indie tarot decks, round tarot cards, botanical tarot, Divine Feminine decks, watercolor tarot artwork, or working with the moon and lunar cycles, Tarot of Her is definitely an interesting deck to explore.
