EDIT: I just wanted to reiterate that while I pointed out what was going on with the Fantastic Menagerie, I repeated in the video a few times that I understand where Karen was coming from in relation to her comment on China and it was the “all” that makes me feel uncomfortable. I also mentioned I don’t know/think the comment is racially charged in any way, but perhaps xenophobic in the general sense of being uncomfortable with other countries. I ended up canceling my preorder for mainly reasons outside both our control — the postal service (the Irish post doesn’t seem to be delivering to Singapore) and the pandemic — but in this video, I wonder if what I mentioned was subconsciously part of that decision. The mail forwarder I use doesn’t have any addresses for Europe, only US, and I’ll only be buying overseas decks using this forwarder. Just because a few comments made me feel like my sentiments weren’t well understood.
This was a difficult video to make and edit. I took so much out to try make a coherent video, including the many sighs but I left a few just to show you how difficult I find it articulating my thoughts. But I still felt like this was an important video to make, so others in my position don't feel so alone. It's not easy making purchases in this day and age. It's ok if you have a different view; I'm not shaming anyone into NOT buying or using a deck. This is why I talked about my struggles with the Fantastic Menagerie and Angels and Ancestors decks. I hope for your empathy and understanding.
