SPOILER ALERTS
In this video I explore the possibility that the audience is fed a premise that just won't hold water in reality.
If you don't want spoilers on these films, don't watch my video.
Films discussed:
Now Voyager with Bette Davis , Paul Henreid, and the wonderful Claude Reins
The Best Years of Our Lives with Fredric March, Myrna Loy, Dana Andrews, Virginia Mayo, and Theresa Wright
Brief Encounter starting Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson. I need to clarify that after creating this video I rewatched Brief Encounter and realized that confessing to her husband was a fantasy. But the way it looks, is that her husband somehow knew what she was thinking and thanked her for returning home to him.
I think in the case for at least 2 of these films, that the morality code required the plots to be innocent, but for me, that was a tall order to believe.
