What is it like to be a woman who learns she's going to have a baby and at the same time that she's HIV+? Or a gay man who learns his boyfriend is HIV+ but has been hiding that from him? What can medical personnel do to help such patients emotionally and medically? Filmed over the course of a year at LAC+USC's MCA clinic and Rand Schrader clinic, Target Zero is a one-hour documentary film that focuses on the scientific, medical, and social aspects of HIV treatment and prevention. The film will be used in medical schools and by health professionals everywhere.
In addition to these true-life stories, vivid molecular animations illustrate many of the points made in the film, and some of the world's top experts talk about the history of the HIV epidemic and the intense research that led to today's state of the art medications. Target Zero is a collaborative effort among scientists, physicians, patients, artists, and filmmakers based or trained at LAC+USC, the RCSB Protein Data Bank, Rutgers University, the University of Utah, and USC Cinema.
