Spanning nearly two hours, this gameplay session is a deep dive into a "lost" work-in-progress version of Game of Thrones: Total War Enhanced. This specific build was originally sidelined due to broken scripts (which I’ve since fixed), but it remains my preferred way to play for one major reason: the Bigger Campaign Map by SoulGamesInc.
Unlike the official 5.5 and 5.6 releases where the map was scaled down, this version retains the original, massive scope of Westeros. It also features my original recruitment systems developed between 2016 and 2019, along with the unique inclusion of House Manderly (added in 2023), the Wildlings, the Night’s Watch, and House Targaryen.
In this playtest, I lead House Targaryen on a war of conquest. Having already secured the Free Cities from rebels, the Dragon Queen’s host has landed near King’s Landing. We are fielding a powerhouse of armies:
Khal Drogo leading the Dothraki screamers.
Grey Worm commanding the Unsullied.
Aegon Targaryen at the head of the Golden Company.
Daenerys Targaryen herself, accompanied by Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal as separate, devastating units.
The climax of the video is a massive siege of King’s Landing, held by the Lannister-Baratheon forces under Sandor "The Hound" Clegane. This version uses the classic custom King's Landing settlement by Makanyane.
While this WIP lacks the 30+ heroes of 5.6 and the 2024 settlement ports I helped Firestorm with for the RetroSubmod, the combination of the large map and my original gameplay tuning makes this the most interesting "what if" version of the mod to date.
Video Highlights
The Large Map: Exploration of the SoulGamesInc campaign map before it was downsized for official releases.
Targaryen Invasions: Managing the logistics of Dothraki, Unsullied, and Mercenary armies.
Dragon Warfare: Seeing all three dragons deployed as individual units on the battlefield.
The Siege of King's Landing: A brutal confrontation against The Hound in one of the original custom settlements.
Modding History: A look at the 2016-2023 recruitment layers and the differences between this WIP, 5.6, and the RetroSubmod.
