This is actually my 2nd time re-doing this fight I believe. I recently watched my most recent take of this fight from a few years ago and I felt like there was too much Damage Guard going on, so I decided to do it with 100% less Damage Guard. Back then, I was pretty adamant that I had to get a set-up at the start with Damage Guard. In a sense, I was correct since that strat is indeed way more consistent but it's certainly possible without it. Basically, the starter here where I jump over Farah then run away from Woodrow/Garr is pretty inconsistent since it heavily relies on Meredy not using Thunder Blade and the two physical attackers to use longer chains so I have time to create a good axis for myself. Before, I waited to get a good timing with Damage Guard. I was also not using the ice elemental resist back then and I gotta say, it makes a pretty big difference in the difficulty of this fight since Freeze Lancer is BS. I'm still not resistant to lightning so Thunder Blade is still a problem, but otherwise Meredy is very easily negated with equipment. Maybe one day, I'll do a take with no elemental resists or Damage Guard (I probably won't because this is RNG hell)

Strategy:
The so-called Ruler of the Skies is pretty similar to Brutaur in concept except I cant use Radiant Rondo to dodge counters this time. Pterobronc has two counters: one is a spin that has a massive horizontal hitbox but a relatively small vertical hitbox. The other is a charge attack which it unlocks below 50% HP. I can dodge both of these while staying on the offensive by simply hovering just above the vertical hitboxes of the attacks. Artes that are good for this are: Sigil Spear, Binding Sphere, Lightning, Blade Torrent, and of course Shimmer Spin/Cloud Pierce to regain some lost height.
Of course, the biggest issue with staying airborne for a long time is recovering AC. I have to land eventually. Generally, I like to recover AC after knocking Pterobronc down with Death Knell or doing an aerial jump backwards after proccing a counter. The latter option is honestly safer because Pterobronc can counter very frequently, meaning that Pterobronc might counter off of a Death Knell hit that doesnt knock it down.

If one of us dies, we reset the world. The goal is to beat the game. Whoever dies the most will have to solo an annoying Tales boss.
