Frederic has some simple weaknesses to exploit for easy +CC. Missing only the Spirit weakness, which Spread and Maelstrom have. By using Maelstrom continuously, given how its hitbox works(slowly spinning while pushing outward), you can get +CC every time he recovers, as long a he doesn't do a move that activates at a farther distance than the spell. He eventually will, as all his signature moves have a range that activates further than the Maelstrom spell covers. After the spell spam, it's just the usual fare. Only his Super Demon Fang is any real threat, since I can't perfect evade it, but with its long startup, plenty of time to back away.
Cedric 2.0 isn't too much different than the regular version, except he starts using his "artes" at the start of battle. You still can't stun him, but he'll get 0 stagger time reduction if you hit him with a critical multi-hit attack(his head tilts all the way back looking upward), making him easy to combo. I went with a Free Run strategy to avoid his attacks, since Free Run doesn't get a lot of practical use, which worked pretty well. Could have done better if Free Run wasn't so "stiff" in activating.
Amber/Kohaku is pretty simple. Another boss with easy-to-hit weaknesses on weapon and gem for +CC. Only Shot weakness is needed for full weakness hits, which is Pascal's whole A-arte tree. So that gives a lot of freedom to just attack without worrying too much about CC consumption. In her 2nd half, Kohaku has a lot of stringed attacks, which can make it a bit tough to get a hit in past the Iron Stance.
Dark Turtlez. Easy weaknesses that all can fit on a gem/weapon, making every hit gain +CC. Its really slow and has terrible range, so it is a simple task to stay just outside its range while I go to town getting +CC with every hit.
Emeraude 2.0 is exactly like the first. Only difference I noticed was that she auto-guard Flux Form from start unless she's in an attack animation(I do it once here, but that's a pure gamble if she finishes the animation, I'm hit/dead)

A revisit to my Pascal run.
No cheats were used to give me an unfair advantage; the ones I'm using are:
1) Turn on/off the Grade shop options(for damage control)
2) Alters the camera angle like Zesty/Bersy/Arise
3) Use Pascal everywhere
4) Retry a fight. Some optional fights and Zhonecage don't give you that option.
Many later files were carried over from my ps3 run. Any questions or concerns, feel free to drop a comment =03.

![Tales of Arise - Mantis [Hard] - Shionne solo
You thought I was gonna leave the mantis be? Nah, its gonna catch these boolits.
Thisll be the last video for the demo. Too much trouble to fight the special boss solo, since its only a one-time deal and building the levels takes time. Gonna remain a mystery until the full game for me =0v.
After getting used to its patterns, the mantis isnt too hard. Because of how the mantiss slash attacks can whiff, I try to evade in the same direction it attacks to get a perfect evasion. When it does its charging attack, perfect countering stops it in its tracks. It has quicker recovery time than the boar when this occurs, so I only have time for 1 arte before it attacks. Using Aqua Impact usually puts me in just the right position to aim for a perfect evasion on its next claw swipe.
At 50%, it goes into overlimit(OVL) and gets 3 bee mobs to assist in the fight. They can cause paralysis, so I opted to defeat them instead of leaving them be. As long as I keep an eye on the mantis, and perfect evade its charge attack, I will teleport towards my target, sometimes leaving me airborne to use Aqua Impact. This, coupled with Burnstrike, and Luke Divisios homing ability, I can dispatch them quickly.
Kinda hated I got hit 4 times by the mantis, 2 due to miscalculation on distance when evading, and 1 on missed forward input(backstepped instead of stepping forward). That first OVL caught me cold though; keep forgetting about that in the heat of the moment. Not the best of takes, but I can live with this, given the resetting nature of the demo. So after watching TheTalesFans and then miraclechaos amazing skill to utilize Xillias backstep, I felt compelled to give it a try myself, so I redid these two battles, since I was practicing against Gaius and eventually got motivated to beat him again(did the 3 Chim for kicks). I used the exact same files for these as the originals(i.e. no 2x dmg/3x crit), except I did not increase any stats other than PSY to avoid status effects, and in return, I de-equipped the Water Guard skill. Not planning to do any others though.
The backstep isnt as bad as I thought, though it requires a rather precise timing to it. Im actually spoiled by Gracess quick-step, since any attack that occurs during that step(if its the correct direction of course) will be perfect dodged, with invincibility frames to go with it.
Arguably, you could say I would have lost the Gaius battle, but I continued to play even though I got healed(would have quit if I absorbed his MA). I didnt have Life Reversal(recover 50% dmg taken) or P.Def/M.Def + 40% foods either(forgot to buy it), so a fair trade I think. Obviously all types of hacked mechanics and stuff.... Hey, dont judge me! Its the only way I know how to have fun with this game =0[....
This isnt a thing though; just out of boredom...
list of hacked things for Marta:
-All artes can link to normals; as such, # of attacks in a row = # of normal combo hits; still must follow arte rules
-slight increase in recovery time after all artes(prevents infinite spam)
-UP-normal has additional follow-up attack while in the air(not perfected)
-Swallow Waltzs backflip at start of the arte has been removed
-can follow normals after EX Attacks and artes
-aerial version of Swallow Waltz
-casting speed for spells reduced so the magic is cast right after incantation
-upgraded Tmpst Sw, R. Gale, Rem Strike to arcane artes
-has all magic in which she has an incantation for(Stone Blast, Ice Needle, Stalag, Iciclc R, Neg Gate, Bld Howling, Grd Dash, Absolute, Scare Shot(not useable) Tales of Symphonia 2 ~ Dawn of the New World : Magnar - Marta solo](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/QkRDuL78bvk/mqdefault.jpg)

Looking at it now, the only true impressive thing I see is the cryas spell combo. That was hard to get off. Plenty of times I could have avoided damage by spell cancelling into sidestep, and could have utilized better options like V. Fang after Spiral Ascension instead of (lol) trying to step toward them to continue attacking but, knowledge without experience, it is what it is. ![Tales of Xillia 2 : Alvin / Agria (Fractured) - Leia 2024 solo
This was not a fun fight. I didnt think itd be this difficult, after watching the original, but it was harder than I thought. My 2nd most disliked fight.
First off Alvin. Hes a playable character, so you know hell come with the stupid hitboxes and range(ofc, he has a gun). He tends to swing his sword upward, which has a high-reaching hitbox that tends to catch me when Im doing low-altitude movements. He has superarmor sometimes when attacking, but I could not understand the conditions he needs to use it.
Another problem with him is his Iron Stance; when it breaks, it either takes a long time to reinstate itself or doesnt reinstate itself until hes attacked again. This makes it so when I Eagles Rage him again after breaking his IS, by the time I land, hell counter(pretty much always) with Tornado Drive, which will kill me. I remedy this by throwing out Rending Quakes or Soaring Blast so hell get knocked back when he tries to run through it if he doesnt have IS. If he does have IS, hell have typical behavior(run through unfazed, guard, or backstep to avoid). I dont have the competency to keep up with this in certain situations; at that point its a coinflip whether he counters or not.
His counters of choice are mostly Tornado Drive and Sonic Thrust, both can be used to counter in the air as well. TD is very annoying, because its hitbox is very wide, hits very high, and moves without slowing his current momentum. The momentum aspect can be manipulated so he TDs away from you, but a misplaced RQ that pushes him toward you when he doesnt have IS means... =0v.
As far as Agria goes, she isnt so bad, but the two things that annoyed me about her was Fireball(of all things) and... I dunno what to call it, but she gets a guard shield instead of an IS shield on some of her artes. I thought Fireball was a joke of a spell, but there were plenty of times I lost to it since it has great vertical range over a longer distance. The guard shield artes make it so Soulstoke Spin and/or ER cant break it like the IS, so I have to be careful when attacking her as well; Id attack her with ER while using something like Blazing Ring(which in other battle would stagger her) and get game over.
My strategy here depends on the links. If they are unlinked, I ER Alvin, then either jump Rabid Lunge him to push him away, or, use Earth Roar to bounce him back up, following with a RQ in both instances. Afterward as said before, after being pushed away and he recovers, Ill use RQ from high in the air for small additional damage and to stagger him so he can regen his IS again. If he counters on the last hit of ER, I will backwards double jump away, since he may counter with TD with the same momentum my backwards jump is, then follow up depending on if he recovers or falls into a down state.
If they link, I target the master. If Alvins the master, I can just ER him like normal, but have to be careful of Agria guarding for him since it will allow him to land while Im at a vulnerable height. If Agrias the master, I target her. Agria has a guard shield on some of her artes, I just have to make sure Im timing my attack so that either her IS get broken before she attacks or my physical self/hurtbox doesnt reach her before her arte finishes. I also need to be careful of slave Alvin, as hell use his Breaker attacks either sword(close) or gun(far) very occasionally, even if youre not between them.
Strange this is harder than Chronos and Bisley. I couldnt use my original file since I wasnt strong enough(Lv 51), so I had to use my Chronos 3 file(I had herb grinded on original playthrough to fight him; Lv 110) and I STILL had to use food for additional damage. Yeah I could use Devil Arms or mod stats and make short work of them, but Id like to keep the authenticity of the main run intact.
Id like to add that this was a LUCKY run; situations like Alvin in OVL spamming against the wall is definitely not normal, and gave me a big advantage in dispatching Agria.
