Worlds First Solar Powered Train - Byron Bay Australia Wonder World 2023-10-20 | This is the worlds first Solar Powered Train, it made its first 6 km round trip, between the town of Byron Bay and North Beach in NSW Australia, making it the world’s first solar powered train, December 2017.The Byron Bay Railroad Company, searched the country and found a dilapidated vintage1949-built 600 class train, called a ‘red rattler’, and spent $4 million dollars to restore it and get it up and running, including another $1.8 million dollars on restoring the 3km disused rail line, Plus a further $1 million dollars was spent on the train shed and two platforms at each end.On its roof, the train boasts 6 kW of custom-made flexible solar panels, and are backed up by 77 kWh of battery storage, which has taken the place of one of the train’s two original diesel engines.The train only uses about 4kwh for each one way trip, and has been able to make 16 trips, and only use 25% of its on board battery power, without any top up charging. The train can also recharge while stopped at each station, which are also equipped with solar panels on the roofs. Lexus Made a Full Size Cardboard Car Wonder World 2023-07-01 | In 2015, Lexus UK, commissioned 2 companies to build a full-scale replica, of a Lexus IS 300 Sedan, built entirely out of the corrugated Cardboard.1,700 individually shaped cardboard sheets were used, to create a fully functional replica of the IS saloon model.Inspired by origami, the full-size sculpture was produced as a celebration of the human craftsmanship behind each Lexus car.London-based companies LaserCut Works and Scales and Models were commissioned to complete the project, which took three months in total to finish.The studios were provided with a 3D model of the existing IS saloon, which they then divided into principal parts, including the main body, dashboard, seats and wheels.These sections were digitally rendered as 10-millimetre slices, then laser cut from the cardboard and given individual reference numbers to ensure the car was assembled in the correct sequence.An electric motor used to power the vehicle is mounted on a steel and aluminium frame is housed within the model. Cactus Flowers Blooming in Timelapse - 8 Hours in 6 Seconds Wonder World 2023-06-18 | These images are courtesy of EchinopsisFreak Youtube Channel.These timelapses were shot with a Canon 6D. Most were shot with Canon's excellent 100mm Macro Lens. Some with a Canon 35mm lens (also super). Greg shoot in a light tent in his "studio" he uses LED panel lights primarily. Greg is often asked if he uses editing software to juice up the colors of these flowers. In fact, he uses it to do just the opposite. The real life colors of most of these flowers are so intense/so vibrant that images of them are always oversaturated and look mushy. So he uses Lightroom to cut the saturation/vibrance of the images back substantially to recover flower detail. Mercedes G-Wagon Made Out of ICE Wonder World 2023-06-12 | This is the Mercedes ICE G-Wagon, made by Garage 54 in Novosibirsk Russia.The Mercedes ICE G-Wagon is fully driveable, but is not street legal, as it has no lights or mirrors, also it weighs over 6 tonnes! Garage 54 took a chassis from an old ex- Soviet-era UAZ-469 military jeep, then welded a steel box frame to the base of the car in the shape of a G-Wagon, they then added 6 tonnes of sculpted ice blocks as the body work. It's not all ice though, as parts like the engine required more melt-proof materials to prevent the whole car from falling apart. Ed was just 19-year-old when set out from his home town in Somerset, England, before crossing Europe then, Kazakhstan, china, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, USA then back to England.THIS IS NOT A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD - In terms of an 'official’ record, Ed’s ride isn’t one. He did get in contact with Guinness before he started to learn about their rules. Riding at least 18,000 miles, crossing antipodal points on the globe and not stopping somewhere more than 14 days, being the main ones.He realised early on that he didn’t want to change the way he ran his trip just to appease Guinness (especially the 14 day rule), so his ride is not recognised.
