🇩🇰 🇺🇸 When we moved to Copenhagen, it was only a mild Danish culture shock to remove my shoes every time we entered a home. Taking off our shoes wasn’t difficult, but the extreme rigidity of the custom was new. Growing up in America, we were just a bit more relaxed about wearing shoes indoors.

Different flooring? Different socks? Different weather? It’s hard to pinpoint the reason for the difference, but we learned quick that the default was “shows off”. It’s definitely not as rigid in the States based on our experience, but it was a quick and easy adjustment.
