Dursley joined the nation in paying its respects to the fallen this afternoon, as hundreds of people lined the streets to watch the procession.
The parade, led by Wotton Silver Band, set off from in May Lane at 2.45pm and made its way to St James’ Church for the Act of Remembrance at 3pm.
The Last Post was sounded before a two-minute silence, followed by the Reveille and ministers from all denominations reading a roll call of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Stroud MP Dr Simon Opher and town mayor Cllr Alex Stennett were the first to lay wreaths on the War Memorial Gates at St James’ Church.
As rain approached and the evening drew in, wreaths were also laid by organisations including Dursley Town Council, The Royal British Legion, Probus, Freemasons, Scouts, Girlguiding and many others.
