We’re heading north through Colorado with the Escape 24, testing out our new setup, exploring some beautiful backroads, and finally getting back on the water!
After dealing with a melted MC4 solar connector, we make a quick electrical repair before continuing north. We stop at a Maverik for a dump station visit, talk about how much of a difference the white trailer and upgraded solar system are making, and then find the perfect excuse to break out our new inflatable paddle boards.
Our first real paddleboarding trip takes us onto a beautiful Colorado lake where we encounter some incredible scenery — and even an otter! These boards were a surprisingly great addition to our RV setup, especially compared with hauling full-size kayaks.
Afterward, we hit the road looking for a place to camp. Along the way, we take the Ram 3500 and Escape 24 down some rougher roads, test four-wheel drive, check out the trailer's TPMS, and take another close look at our weight-distribution hitch. We're seriously considering replacing the current system with a hydraulic or airbag-based hitch.
And then we find it…
A completely free camping spot with an absolutely incredible view of the Colorado plains and mountains. We expected to stay one night. Instead, we're already thinking about staying several.
This is exactly why we love traveling this way.
