In 1995, 18-year-old Christa Pike lured fellow Job Corps student Colleen Slemmer to a secluded area near the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville. What followed was one of the most brutal murders in Tennessee history. Pike tortured Slemmer for over thirty minutes, carved a pentagram into her chest, and kept a piece of her skull as a souvenir. She was sentenced to death at 20 years old, making her the youngest woman on death row in the United States at that time. Her execution is scheduled for September 30, 2026.
Tadaryl Shipp was Pike's 17-year-old boyfriend and co-defendant. He received life with the possibility of parole. He has been in prison for over 30 years.
