Pigs and Cubes (Live-Action Short Film) AP Pictures 2025-05-02 | In this short, I go to sleep with a squeaky pig and end up in a weird world with hills shaped like a smiley face and metal cubes floating everywhere. How will I get back home? This short was made as a project for my university's advanced compositing class, where I had to build a digital set using Unreal Engine and then film myself in front of the school's giant screen. Some shots were digitally composited using Adobe After Effects (using the roto brush tool). Everything was first edited together in Adobe Premiere Pro (allowing for the Earthquake effect) and then moved into iMovie. It's been a while since I've posted a new video. Apologies for that. Being a full-time student at a university does make it hard to focus on YouTube. For those who had patience and stayed on this channel despite the long gaps between videos, thank you so much. Pizza in a Cup (Live-Action Cooking Skit) AP Pictures 2024-12-20 | Here is a new live-action short film I did for media production class at my university! We had to create a cooking video of a fictional food item, and we were not required to use real ingredients. I chose the "Pizza in a Cup" from the 1979 Steve Martin comedy "The Jerk". For this project, I used index cards, calling them "magic cards," not only to avoid buying ingredients but also to add some more whimsy to make my project stand out, including 6 animated shots I did! Due to other classes, I had a short period of time to make this short, but luckily, I got a good grade on this project. My teacher praised me for including foreshadowing and plot twists, as well as the vantage points used. The only critiques I got were to color in the cards and increase the exposure on certain shots. I got a 39.5/37 on the project (because I also submitted a storyboard along with the script) which boosted my overall class grade to an insane 101%. Wishing Well (Cutout Animated Short) AP Pictures 2024-09-12 | This is a stop-motion cutout short film I did for school recently. It was presented in front of my classmates yesterday, and it was posted on Twitter shortly after. For this assignment, we had to look at some stop-motion works from a chapter of the book "A New History of Animation" by Maureen Furniss. My inspiration was the 1926 film The Adventures of Prince Achmed, which is the earliest available animated film. It used cutout silhouettes to create a look based on shadow theater performances. I used the style of that film along with the abstract design of the backgrounds (most noticeably with the clouds). Admittedly, I wish I could have made this longer, but I had to juggle different school assignments so I had to keep this one short. Hopefully, I can make my next class projects longer.This short was also posted on YouTube to show that I am not gonna stop posting animations on this channel. Albertos Animated Pieces: Problem Golfer (4K) AP Pictures 2023-04-01 | Originally released: May 8th, 2020Episode 2 of my Alberto's Animated Pieces series! In this short, a golfer just wants to golf, but the golf ball just doesn't let the golf man golf!This marks my very last animation made in high school before graduation. This started production in March right before the pandemic and finished for my school's broadcast series in May. This one has a slightly different style than my other animations because I gave the golfing man detailed irises and I made the background blurred. The blurred background with the animated flag was one of the trickiest to pull off and it created a big file. There are no sound effects in this video because 1) I didn't have that much time, and 2) I wanted this to have an almost silent cartoon feel. The biggest difference between this and the original HD version is that the text at the beginning (and the thumbnail) has a different font, which was done automatically.
